Jam-packed!

Date: 12th Feb 2017 @ 4:51pm

First off, I want to thank all of Year 5/6 for being impeccable representatives of Byley when we visited Middlewich Secondary School for our science afternoon on Thursday. We had a great time and learnt a lot!

This week, Jack and Hannah delivered an assembly on E-safety. They told a story about a rabbit that befriended someone it did not know on Facebook and when they met up at the park it turned out to be a crocodile! They have set a competition for KS1 based on a colouring task and a competition for KS2 based on creating a poster, winners announced next week!

In English, we have created a rap/song to celebrate Beowulf defeating the Grendel! We have also done a piece of writing telling the story of Beowulf’s fight with The Jabberwocky as it plagues England!

In maths, the Year 6s have worked incredibly hard building up their confidence in SATs testing. It’s good to see them putting in their all and it can show us where we need to put in extra work to get to ready for the real thing later this year! The Year 5s have continued their decimal work and they are proving they have a real sound knowledge of these!

During science, we learnt about the digestive system! We sketched out life-size body parts that are involved with digestion and then cut them out and stuck them on a member of the group!

In RE, we covered the fourth pillar of Islam. We had a good discussion about why it would be hard to fast for a whole month and debated whether it would be easier to fast in Winter or Summer.

We have completed our Viking purses and they look incredible! They can be taken home next week after we have used them for Tuesday’s lesson (all will be revealed!). They have also created a Viking broach out of cardboard and foil which look fantastic.

This week was very busy but the Year 5/6s put in a huge amount of effort throughout, well done!

Thank you, Miss Ross.
