Football League 2

Tonight was the second week of the football league and Team Byley once more showed more guts and determination than any other team out there!

We played a very tough and competitive match against Warmingham.  We lost eventually 4-2 but it was close for a long time and Connor did extremely well to score both of Byley's goals!  The team challenged for every ball and really played for each other.

In the second match we played St Mary's. Along with Middlewich, these are considered the best team with the best players in the competition.  We learned a lot from our match against Middlewich last week and defended brilliantly, all the time looking to set Connor on his way once more.  No goals came unfortunately but we more than held our own against very good opposition.

A huge thank you to all the parents who came to offer their support and cheered every pass, every tackle and both our goals!  A special thanks to Mrs R who warmed everyone up with some much needed hot chocolate and a pack of bourbons!

But of course the biggest thanks must go to the players:

Liam - for his brave saves.

Alex - for leading the defence and setting up both goals!

Liz - for her tireless blocking and tackling.

Daniel - for supporting Alex so well and being a real pest on the right side!

Chris - for getting in the most tackles and heading away danger on more than one occasion

Jack - for covering every inch of the pitch trying to help his defenders and support Connor up front!

Connor  - for scoring Byley's goals and being a danger in both matches!

Alice - for coming on and tackling anything that moved in midfield!

Josh - for helping out in midfield and blocking every attack that came his way.

Charlie - for making sure that the space in front of the defenders was protected so well.

Well done to you all!
