Monet Gallery

Lesson: Art and design

Class: Year 3 & 4 Year: 2015 - 2016

As part of our work on France, we have been studying the French artist, Claude Monet. We have been learning about the beginnings of Impressionism and we have been looking closely at Monet's paintings of his garden in Giverny, France. If you look at his paintings up close, they look like a series of small blobs or brushstrokes, but from a distance, the effect is magical. We tried hard to copy his technique to create our own versions of the famous painting "Water Lilies and the Japanese Bridge".
