What a half term!
Date: 14th Feb 2018 @ 11:42am
This half term has been a busy one, to say the least. We have taken a journey through Cornwall and enjoyed reading Michael Morpurgo’s story, “The Giants Necklace”, we have analysed the text and discussed the use of language within the story and what effect it has on you as a reader. Following on from reading the story, the children have written fantastic personification poems surrounding the wild sea that swept Cherry (the main character form the story) away, inspired by the poet James Reeves.
In our Geography and History lessons we looked in depth at Cornwall and especially the Tin Mining industry; this resulted in a debate within the class about whether Tin Mining was good or bad for Cornwall? You can listen to this debate by scanning the QR code below.
In P.E we worked on preserverence - year 5 and 6 choreographed their own dance in which they performed in an assembly to the rest of the school. The track they danced too was Megan Trainor - “I feel better when I am dancing.” Which the whole class agreed they all felt very positive and ready to tackle anything after a good dance.
Well that’s all from me year 5 and 6, you have been a pleasure to teach these past 12 weeks and I will miss you all. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your co-operation, time and patience. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Byley Primary School, and I will be back to visit (sooner than you may think 😉)
All the best,
Miss E Bunce.
