What should my child bring to school?
Children can bring a small bag or book bag to school. They will be provided with their own stationery but are welcome to bring their own small pencil cases.
All children will be provided with a plastic water bottle which can be used in class.
School Uniform & P.E.
Children will wear school trousers/shorts and black shoes, school polo shirt and jumper as part of the school uniform.
Our PE days are (Tuesday and Friday)
Children are asked to bring their PE Kit (White Tshirt, Black Shorts/Leggings/jogging bottoms and pumps or trainers) in a drawstring PE bag which can be left in school. The children are welcome to take this home on a Friday for washing or leave it in school for the half term.
Those children doing PE club on a Friday morning may come in PE kit so need to bring uniform to wear after.
Please make sure ALL items of your childs uniform is labelled with their name (including outdoor wear such as coats and forest school items).
Homework
Reading. Children need to be reading at home for at least 15 minutes, three times each week and recording this in their diaries. To ensure that they choose suitable books, we have adopted the Accelerated Reader system. Books now have a number rather than a colour band.
Spellings. Spellings are given out every Monday and are tested the following Monday. Please see the tab at the top of the page for the weekly spelling lists.
Maths. Maths homework is given out every Thursday and is handed in the following Thursday. Children are to have a good go at the questions. If there are any questions that they are not sure about, we will cover them in class.
FOREST SCHOOLS
We are very fortunate to be having our Forest Schools sessions every Thursday afternoon with Mr Smith. The weather, however, is proving to be very unpredictable so here are some gentle reminders of what is needed.
The children need their arms and legs covered to prevent nettle stings and getting cold so Long sleeve tops and long trousers or Coverall suit are ideal.
ALL children need suitable footwear such as Wellies or Walking boots. Trainers are not waterproof and water and mud seep into them very easily. Please have these is in a seperate plastic bag for after as they will get muddy.
A waterproof coat is also essential as the children will be going out unless the weather is considered dangerous. Hats and Gloves are also useful as the weather turns colder.
All Forest school kit is now loaded into a trolley and left in the shed during the day, so please make sure it is packed seperately from anything the children may need for the classroom/lunchtime.
