PE & Sports Funding
All schools receive a sports grant to develop the skills of children and teachers. This funding is currently provided by the Departments for Education, Health & Culture, Media & Sport, and schools will receive the grant directly to improve the quality of sport and PE for all children.
PE is a vital element which contributes to a child's physical and emotional development as well as their health and well-being. At Byley, we aim to provide a safe environment and highly qualified sports staff to deliver PE lessons throughout the school. The PE curriculum affords opportunities for children to engage in a range of sports and skills, and through these increase their confidence. Children take part in sports as individuals and in teams, where they develop a sense of fair play, respect and sportsmanship.
We are pleased to offer a variety of different skills-based sessions throughout the academic year for children in all year groups (such as football, gymnastics, cricket and netball), as well as opportunities to represent the school at sporting events and tournaments.
Our Governors agree that the money must be used so that all children benefit. We inlcude children in local sporting activities and tournaments and we make no charges to provide swimming lessons for all children in KS2.
